The Colorado Rockies dismissed manager Bud Black on Sunday while in the midst of one of the worst starts in major league history. Bench coach Mike Redmond was also let go by Colorado. Third-base coach Warren Schaeffer was named interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Bud Black, the longest-tenured manager in Colorado Rockies history, was fired in his ninth season as the team slides toward a historically bad season.

The Rockies' record is 6-33, the worst 39-game start to a season in National League history and tied with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for MLB's worst of the modern era (since 1900).
