Jota returns for a reported fee of £9m and has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Scottish champions. During his first spell at the club, the 25-year-old won every domestic honour available to him and scored 28 goals and provided 26 assists. He is being tipped to wear the number 23 jersey on his return.
Jota believes he has returned to Celtic a "more mature" person having overcome "some difficulties" with Al-Ittihad then Rennes. The 25-year-old Portuguese winger has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract as former Celtic team-mate Kyogo Furuhashi moved in the opposite direction to the Ligue 1 strugglers.
Celtic have reportedly had a bid rejected for Norwegian winger Sondre Orjasaeter. The 21-year-old made 30 appearances for Sarpsborg 08 in 2024, in which he scored six goals and assisted five as the club finished 12th in the Eliteserien.
As he prepares for a second Celtic stint, it will be interesting to see what Rodgers does with the 25-year-old. Daizen Maeda is having perhaps his best season in green and white, while Nicolas Kuhn is the current front-runner for the player of the season award.
Jota was back at Lennoxtown today as he and his Celtic teammates trained before heading down to Birmingham for tomorrow's Champions League tie against Aston Villa. However, there was no sign of Cameron Carter-Vickers as Brendan Rodgers ' side were put through their paces in the winter sun.
