The Houston Texans interviewed Tampa Bay assistant Thad Lewis for their offensive coordinator job, a person with knowledge of the talks confirmed. Lewis, the quarterbacks coach for the Buccaneers since 2023,
Houston has reportedly completed three initial interviews to date, previously meeting with current quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Thad Lewis. The franchise's next interview brings intrigue given his most recent stop.
Now, the Los Angeles Rams’ tight ends coach and passing game coordinator is scheduled to interview with the Texans on Thursday, per a league source. Caley, 42, is a former Patriots tight ends coach who began his career as a student assistant at John Carroll, Caserio’s alma mater where he was a record-setting quarterback.
Whether Houston decides to trade up or down remains uncertain. The organization has previously found success when picking in the late 20s.
It’s officially Senior Bowl week and the NFL world has converged on Hancock-Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala. for a chance to see the next crop of rising talents take over.
Injuries hit the Texans hard, especially at wide receiver. Stefon Diggs, who was a major offseason addition, tore his ACL back on Oct. 27 during a win over the Indianapolis Colts. Now, he’s heading into free agency, and his future with the team is unclear.
