Over the next five days, the women’s basketball teams from Eastern Washington and Idaho will test the Big Sky’s unique conference tournament structure, each vying for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Big Sky Basketball Championships are set to transform Boise into a college basketball hub this week, with 20 programs playing for a bid to the Big Dance.

Montana won its first Big Sky regular season championship since 2019 and will try to add a tournament title for the first time since that same year.

The Eagles finished their first regular season under Monson 10-21 overall and 6-12 in conference play, earning them the No. 8 seed in the 10-team Big Sky Tournament. It means they will play No. 7 Northern Arizona (17-14, 8-10) in the opening round on Saturday at 7 p.m.
