Javonte Green is joining the Cleveland Cavaliers after agreeing to a contract buyout with the New Orleans Pelicans and clearing waivers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Sunday they have officially signed Javonte Green to the team, adding yet another rotation piece to help in their quest to do well in the playoffs. The 31-year-old guard/forward comes to the Cavs after he was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans.
Javonte Green surprisingly stayed put initially with the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline amid a standout season. However, the veteran swingman agreed to a buyout earlier this month, setting the stage for him to join the Cleveland Cavaliers as added wing depth on the bench.

He averaged 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 44.6% from the field and 35.2% from 3-point range. He ranked second on the Pelicans in both total steals (55) and blocks (30).
