Simpson, who spent two seasons at Arizona before transferring to UMass, is the second receiver the Wolverines have added from the transfer portal.

Former UMass wide receiver Anthony Simpson pledged to join Michigan football via the transfer portal on Sunday night, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Former UMass, Arizona WR Anthony Simpson is coming to play for the Michigan football team.

Though not a household name, Michigan managed to reel in UMass wide receiver Anthony Simpson who will come in as a grad transfer. Simpson only appeared in two games in 2024 but had 57 catches for 792 yards in 2023, showing he could be a leading wideout when tasked and healthy.

Michigan’s football program has dipped into the transfer portal to land a new long snapper for 2025. UCLA’s Trent Middleton announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Thursday in a social media post. “Beyond blessed to say I have committed to the University of Michigan,” he wrote accompanied by a graphic of him in a Wolverines uniform.

Michigan has added to its special teams through the transfer portal with the commitment of long-snapper Trent Middleton.

Michigan landed Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley right away when the transfer portal opened which was nice given he's a 6-foot-5 body, but the Wolverines haven't been able to bring anyone else into the fold -- yet.
