Los Angeles wildfires: Fresh evacuations ordered Friday evening after Palisades Fire flares up
For five consecutive days, wildfires fanned by strong winds have ravaged neighborhoods in Los Angeles, destroying more than 12,300 homes and buildings and leaving at least 16 dead. Fresh evacuations were ordered from Mandeville Canyon to the Interstate 405 freeway on Friday evening because of a flare-up of the massive Palisades Fire.
Update: 11% containment achieved for Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County
Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,654 acres after being active for four days. A crew of 4,720 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 11% of the fire by Saturday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
