The Carolina Hurricanes have activated goaltender Frederik Andersen off of IR today and reassigned Dustin Tokarski to the AHL, hence paving the way for Andersen to return to the active lineup for the first time since his Nov.

Frederik Andersen was activated from injured reserve and will be the backup for the Hurricanes against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday (7 p.m. ET; FDSNSO, SCRIPPS, NHLN, TVAS2).

Backup netminder Frederik Andersen was placed on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday. In a subsequent move, the Hurricanes recalled defenceman Ty Smith from the AHL's Chicago Wolves.
