Florida's legislative leaders led an unprecedented revolt against Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday, junking an immigration-focused special session he called in favor of their own and overturning a pair of his vetoes.

Republican lawmakers Sunday filed a flurry of bills to crack down on undocumented immigrants and place restrictions on the ballot initiative process.

Monday morning, the Florida House moved swiftly to end the session without taking any action and call its own special session on illegal immigration.
