Michigan football already got one transfer portal commitment on Sunday with former UMass and Arizona wide receiver Anthony Simpson pledging to the maize and blue. But the Wolverines weren’t done getting transfer portal pledges on the day.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is the second receiver Michigan has landed in the transfer portal this cycle, joining Indiana’s Donaven McCulley. He also is the 12th portal addition overall.

Though not a household name, Michigan managed to reel in UMass wide receiver Anthony Simpson who will come in as a grad transfer. Simpson only appeared in two games in 2024 but had 57 catches for 792 yards in 2023, showing he could be a leading wideout when tasked and healthy.

Simpson, who spent two seasons at Arizona before transferring to UMass, is the second receiver the Wolverines have added from the transfer portal.

Michigan’s football program has dipped into the transfer portal to land a new long snapper for 2025. UCLA’s Trent Middleton announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Thursday in a social media post. “Beyond blessed to say I have committed to the University of Michigan,” he wrote accompanied by a graphic of him in a Wolverines uniform.

Wafle entered the transfer portal in early January after one year with the Wolverines. He joined the program as 247Sports’ No. 445 player in the class of 2024, No. 50 defensive lineman and No. 9 recruit from the state of New Jersey.
