You can always kill a process using its PID, there's no need to close your terminal; If you want to run something in an infinite loop like a daemon then you'd best put it in the background

You can't really monitor the output of dmesg directly.. However, chances are high that your module is not printing directly into the ring-buffer of dmesg, but instead uses the kernel logging facilities (which will then be displayed by dmesg).

There's still a prompt for the LUKS password (or Yubikey pin) and the disk seems to be decrypted fine after entering. However, afterwards there's an endless systemd start job for the LVM volume containing the root partition. Here are the partitions incl. UUIDs. The root partition resides in a LUKS container:
