In contrast, the Toyokagami specifically says Hideyoshi started out taking care of Nobunaga's shoes when Nobunaga went hunting.

I was hoping for an enriching story about how Yasuke learns to survive in a hostile environment whose culture automatically rejected him. Instead they just made him this Gary Stu who constantly wins and is constantly perfect and whose only character obstacles are non-progressive Japanese Tribes who oppose Nobunaga.

I like Yasuke and Saki as characters and I thought they did a good job with some of the supporting cast. I did think the antagonist was really rushed - I wasn’t sure what the motive was there. But I enjoyed the ride overall. Yasuke as a character is really really cool though. I give it a 6/10. Didn’t blow the mind but I enjoyed it.

May 20, 2024 · Plus, ubisoft is ubisofting. They say play as the real first black Samurai of history, that part so wrong that Yasuke wasn't even a Samurai. That is the issue here. If they said get to play as Yasuke a real historical figure in edo Japan, then yeah, but the fact they want to paint him as the first black Samurai is the issue here.

May 23, 2024 · Up until Yasuke's time there was no concept of Samurai but there was the concept of nobles with occupations, but again there's no proof that Yasuke was ever given that title. all profesionnal warrior serving a lord were considered samurai for that period.

Yasuke was at least in Nobunaga's retinue that attended to him. I'd say that at the very least Nobunaga regarded him as samurai. Correct. And this is where most of the problems stem from. Yasuke, who served Nobunaga as a maiden, was to be treated as a formal "samurai" like other vassals. And this is where Lockley is being disingenuous.

Also, don't forget the historical Templars vs. Assassin Order Shadow Wars, Pope using magical artifacts, and of course, Napoleon was buddy buddy with Assassins. Use your EAGLE VISION, sheeple.

He seemed more of a referential character. For instance, the book will have pages about Nobunaga Oda or other prominent figures, and more side notes about what Yasuke was probably doing or thinking at the time. Maybe I’m biased and wanted more about Yasuke, and I understand that much was not documented about him despite his rarity given the time.

Apr 29, 2021 · As for Yasuke himself, I like his character so far. Can't say the same for the rest of the cast yet. I'm watching the Japanese dub btw and the VAs sound fine but you can clearly tell which are the actual seiyuus and which ones are the your more traditional actors just hired to do VA work. Right now I still don't know what to feel.
